To take an example quite close to me personallly ...
On the morning of April 27, 1994, Ohio Right to Life's chief lobbyist -- and a personal friend of mine -- Jan Folger, got into car, started the engine, and turned in her seat to look behind her as she backed out the driveway. When she turned to look forward again, she saw a line of flame in her driveway. She jumped out of the car just as it burst into flames.
Jan escaped unharmed, though the car was completely gutted. The picture above shows Jan standing beside what was left of her car at the police station. Police investigators ruled out accident or mechanical problems and classified the case as "arson". The perpetrator was never caught.
